Curie high school drivers ed sign up. Something Magic is the ninth album by Procol Harum, and was released in 1977.
Electing to work with producers Ron and Howie Albert when Leiber and Stoller (who had produced the band's preceding album) were not available, Procol Harum flew into Miami with more than enough material for their album. However, the Alberts rejected more than five of these tracks, leaving only four from the material the group had intended to use. Vocalist/composer/piano player Gary Brooker then offered up the epic 'The Worm and The Tree', a piece by lyricist Keith Reid that Brooker had been toying with on and off for several years. Under mounting pressure to complete the musical composition and orchestral arrangements for the 19-minute epic (which according to Reid was about 'how the press tried to break up the band'[2]) Brooker turned to local Miami arranger Mike Lewis to complete the orchestral arrangements for the title track 'Something Magic', and band member Chris Copping to complete the woodwind arrangement for 'Skating on Thin Ice'.[3]
With work completed on 'The Worm and The Tree', Brooker previewed it for co-producers Ron and Howie Albert who approved of the piece (a surprise, given that it had a lot in common with the epic orchestral/progressive rock piece, 'In Held Twas I' from Shine on Brightly). Guitarist Mick Grabham offered up his only composition, set to Reid's 'The Mark of the Claw', to help fill out the album (on the 2009 Salvo reissue, Grabham is incorrectly credited with writing the single 'Wizard Man' with Reid). The Alberts insisted that the band's steady drummer B.J. Wilson use a click track for the album, an unusual demand given his work on the band's previous releases. After this album was released, Copping left the band. Dee Murray (Elton John's bassist) replaced him for the North American tour promoting this album.[4]
Reception[edit]
The album was preceded by the single 'Wizard Man', backed by Gary Brooker's instrumental 'Backgammon' in the UK but paired with the title track 'Something Magic' in the United States. The single didn't chart in either the United Kingdom or the United States, and the album rose no higher than No. 146 on the U.S. Billboard charts.[5] It debuted at No. 13 in Denmark,[6] before falling out of the Top 20. Something Magic would remain the last album released by Procol Harum until 1991, when Gary Brooker reunited with Keith Reid, Robin Trower, and Matthew Fisher (drummer B.J. Wilson having died prior to the reunion) for The Prodigal Stranger.
2009 Salvo reissue[edit]
Salvo reissued the entire discography of Procol Harum in 2009, remastered with bonus tracks. Something Magic was remastered by Nick Robbins. The bonus tracks included the b-side 'Backgammon' as well as a demo of two tracks played live by the band but rejected for the album: 'You'd Better Wait' and 'This Old Dog'. The bonus tracks were personally selected by Brooker and Reid for the reissue.

OLATHE, Kansas (February 15, 2017) – To help growers monitor, adjust and learn from the performance of their planter or sprayer while it moves through the field, the company has introduced the new John Deere Connect Mobile App. Over time, Connect Mobile will include other operations, such as harvesting, the ability to add more data and to help growers make better-informed decisions with greater confidence. 'By using Connect Mobile, operators will know they're doing the best possible job with the investment they've made in their John Deere equipment,' says John Mishler, production and precision ag marketing manager for John Deere. Growers can monitor job quality in real time and better understand what's going on with their sprayer or planter in nozzle-by-nozzle and row-by-row detail.
'It's managing the job at a micro level to make macro improvements,' Mishler says. By visualizing job performance, operators can quickly and more easily identify potential problems. Multiple map layers across production steps provide additional insights for growers to consider that can improve their productivity and reduce operating costs. Operators can seamlessly move the app from one John Deere machine to the next, and from one production step to another with confidence and familiarity thanks to Connect Mobile's common user interface.
'The result is a better understanding of the job being performed. Data is saved on the iPad so it goes where you go. At any time, or in any location as the data is saved, you can quickly review past work,' Mishler adds. Using the app, operators can easily compare data layers from previous production steps with what's seen when scouting fields.
'This information can help growers better understand what might have caused what they're seeing in the field,' Mishler explains. Connect Mobile provides more options for operators to view data in the cab, including the John Deere Gen 4 CommandCenter™ that shows performance data averaged across the field, the boom, or the planter section. 'Connect Mobile takes this one step further and maps specific details at specific points – row-by-row or nozzle-by-nozzle,' Mishler adds. 'Operators can use their iPad with Connect Mobile to monitor planter performance while using the Gen 4 CommandCenter for AutoTrac™, Section Control, and other precision-ag applications.
Regardless the operation being performed, the application has the same look and feel.' In John Deere 4 Series Sprayers, operators can view mapping of critical job quality information that includes as-applied rates, rate deviation, spray pressure, and ground speed.
In addition, Connect Mobile delivers high-definition documentation for ExactApply™ Nozzle Control, and provides real-time visibility to estimated droplet size information. 'This ensures on-target application, mitigating the risk of product drift and avoiding the need for re-application. You can more quickly see and react to any problems and optimize job performance,' Mishler says. Factory-installed hardware creates green-on-green simplicity and a consistent cross-platform experience with a familiar, easy-to-use interface. John Deere Connect Mobile is available as a free download from the Apple App Store.
Subscriptions in 2017 are free. For customers who previously used SeedStar™ Mobile, the data stored on their iPad will migrate to Connect Mobile after the new app is installed.
